Hi, I’m Jake Scheideler — the owner and creator of NebraskaTok. I’ve been a lifelong sports enthusiast, and my passion has always been telling the stories of Nebraska High School athletes.
Through NebraskaTok, I shine a spotlight on players and programs across our state, with a special focus on those from smaller schools who often don’t get the recognition they deserve.
The Why Behind NebraskaTok
My story is short, sweet, and one that many athletes and parents can relate to.
NebraskaTok was born out of frustration — too many great athletes in small-town Nebraska were being overlooked. With thousands of athletes across the state, it seemed like the spotlight always landed on the same handful of stars. I wanted to change that.
By sharing highlights, interviews, and in-depth stories, my goal is simple:
Help athletes get noticed, celebrated, and remembered.
Giving Back Through the NebraskaTok Sock Drive
NebraskaTok isn’t just about sports coverage. It’s also about community.
For several years, I’ve organized the NebraskaTok Sock Drive, providing one of the most overlooked essentials for people without permanent housing — clean socks.
Why socks?
- They’re one of the most needed items for those without shelter.
- Feet take a beating without the comfort of a warm home and laundry access.
- Socks and underwear are rarely donated, and when they are, they often can’t be reused due to sanitation concerns.
If you’ve ever “walked in someone else’s shoes,” you know how much of a difference clean, warm socks can make.
On the Airwaves
It was a big step forward when Austin Jacobsen took a chance on me. I became a weekly guest on the KGFW Nebraska High School Football Preview Show with Austin Jacobsen and Ford Clark.
Each week, we:
- Broke down upcoming matchups
- Spotlighted standout players
- Made underdog picks
- Talked plenty of Kearney Bearcats and Kearney Catholic Stars football
It was all about sharing insight, having fun, and bringing more attention to the incredible athletes in our state.
Beyond NebraskaTok
When I’m not creating sports content, I’m the Store Manager at Dick’s Sporting Goods in Grand Island — a role I’ve proudly held for nearly four years.
I love connecting with the community, supporting local teams, and making sure athletes have the gear they need to succeed.
More Than Just Sports Coverage
NebraskaTok is about more than stats, scores, and game recaps. It’s about:
- Community — connecting athletes, families, and fans
- Opportunity — helping players get exposure
- Recognition — giving every athlete a chance to be seen, no matter their school size
This is NebraskaTok. This is why I do it.
