Nebraskatok game report
Lincoln Southeast High vs Lincoln Northwest High; Final : 41-7
Welcome back to Nebraskatok, Sorry for our absence; we’ve missed you!
Tonight we had an inner city rivalry game hosted out of Lincoln southeast high-school. Our teams of the night were Lincoln Northwest and Lincoln Southeast High School. Tonight’s matchup though not as competitive in score was still a thriller for players and audiences alike. The Lincoln Southeast Knights walked away with the W in this matchup, with a final score of 41- 7. This dominant win was headed by a couple of key players for the side of Southeast.
The team led by senior quarterback Gavin Semm (#10) who had 3 total touchdowns in the blow out win. Semm helped lead the Knights down field on 4 straight drives for fast and efficient touchdowns taking a 28-0 lead going into half. Another key player for the Knights in their victory was running back Kadin Logan (#6), who had a total of over 100 scrimmage yards and 2 end-zone visits, making him self very comfortable in the pay dirt. Logan made himself instrumental in tonight’s victory making important play after important play. I’d also like to highlight kicker Carlo Rissetto, who went 5/6 on extra point attempts tonight and recorded 3 touchbacks as well as 3 well placed punts within the opponents 20 yard line.
From the lines all the way down to the kicker Southeast came into tonights matchup ready to win, looked utterly dominant for four quarters. It looks like the adversity Lincoln Southeast faced earlier in the season didn’t define them but refined them. These young men, look like they’re going to be a threat in class A football this season.
Though they walked away with the loss Lincoln Northwest still played a tough and hard fought game. The team led by senior quarterback Sammy Jurgens (#11), who showed of his ability to adapt to a broken play and create a positive outcome time after time. Though he didn’t have a stellar night statistically Jurgens impact seemed to be the main focus of southeasts game-plan defensively. The Falcons were able to piece together good drive that lead to the redzone on several occasions. Unfortunately for the team they were unable to convert on those much needed end-zone trips but despite the loss they shouldn’t be discouraged.
I noticed something as I watched this team, they got more comfortable and began look better and better. Which in my opinion deserves credit and praise just as much as the winners, because you usually can’t say that about a team facing dire odds. This team looks like they’re on the cusp of creating their identity for be this season. As a spectator it doesn’t look like this is the end of Lincoln Northwest and i’m excited to see what this year holds for these young men.
This game though a rivalry game in nature brought the community together to watch these young men pursue they’re dreams and I wanted to highlight that. This game gives us a chance to put our differences aside and root together for the younger generation regardless of the color of their jersey. I want the audience to remember when we watch these games were watching these young men put their heart on their sleeves and grind for their dreams. So thank you Lincoln for supporting the next generation of leaders, athletes and everything in between. Thank you football for the beautiful game you are. But most importantly thank you to the athletes for the hours we get to see and the thousands of hours of work we don’t.
To end off my report tonight I have a message for both teams. To the winners of tonights matchup congratulations you worked hard and earned this victory but keep working and stay hungry. In the words of the late great Kobe Bryant “The jobs not done yet”. Finally my message to the team that lost, take tonight to be mad and grieve the loss but like you need to rise up tomorrow. In the words of the great coach Ted Lasso ” Just Believe.”
