Fairbury vs Crete Softball

Crete Cardinals defeated Fairbury Varsity Jeffs 11-1 on Tuesday thanks in part to seven runs in the third inning.

Crete Cardinals got on the board in the top of the first inning after Lauren Maly singled, and Ashaya Steele grounded out, each scoring one run.

Crete Cardinals added one run in the second after Camry Draeger doubled.

Crete Cardinals scored seven runs on five hits in the top of the third inning. Jordan Parde singled, scoring one run, an error scored one run, an error scored one run, Draeger doubled, scoring two runs, Lesli Kratochvil singled, scoring one run, and a passed ball scored one run.

Crete Cardinals scored one run in the top of the fourth on a solo home run to center field by Kacey Dunaway.

Sam Schmidt began the game for Fairbury Varsity Jeffs. The righty allowed nine hits and nine runs (four earned) over two and one-third innings, striking out one and walking none. Ady Ziemann stepped in the circle first for Crete Cardinals. The right-handed pitcher gave up four hits and one run (zero earned) over four innings, striking out one and walking none.

Lexi Mau, Izzy Ohlde, Malayne DeBoer, and Addy Marschman each collected one hit for Fairbury Varsity Jeffs. Ohlde went 1-for-2 at the plate as the shortstop led the team with one run batted in.

Crete Cardinals collected 12 hits in the game. Leadoff hitter Draeger led Crete Cardinals with three hits in four at bats. Dunaway, Parde, and Maly each collected multiple hits for Crete Cardinals. – Recap From GameChanger
